Who am I?

Hey there! My name is Samantha but everyone knows me as Sam. I'm a 21-year-old university student studying Medicine in Newcastle in the UK. My family is from Hong Kong, but I grew up in New Zealand, so I've gone from one end of the world to the other!

What's this all about?

This blog is just a way for me to record and share my experiences, my interests and whatever else life brings me. You'll find that most of these posts will revolve around food, as food is my passion. I only really started cooking when I got to university, when my mum was no longer able to spoil me rotten with delicious meals 3 (or more) times a day. For the first few months, it was packs after packs of instant noodles, sometimes pasta with jarred sauces, and the occasional (...weekly) takeout of Domino's pizza or curry or Chinese...

As you can imagine, it wasn't the healthiest of diets, and it definitely showed. I probably gained a good 15 pounds, and I was sure my hair was falling out! Eek.

I decided I had to learn to cook then, and it turned out that I really enjoyed it! So now I'm cooking, baking and, of course, eating my way through life. The best thing of all is enjoying this all with good company!

Do you do anything else apart from eat?

Sleep..? ;)

And I travel when my budget will allow me, whether it's back home to Hong Kong or to explore the many corners of the world.

When it's term time though, I'm in the UK living the student life. I try to balance out the academic workload with some exercise - thaiboxing is my new find, and I'm looking to run the Great North Run in 2014.

Thanks for stopping by and I'm always interested in what you think! ;)
